All are welcome to join us for our Fall EcoWalk at the McKee Marsh within Blackwell Forest Preserve. This is an intergenerational, fully accessible event. For our FVPC EcoWalk, we will meet in the McKee Marsh parking lot on the north side of Mack Road and walk the accessible limestone trail around the marsh.

Visitors at Blackwell Forest Preserve walk on land shaped by the retreating Wisconsin Glacier 12,000 to 15,000 years ago. At Blackwell’s McKee Marsh, the 13,000-year-old skeleton of a woolly mammoth — one of the oldest finds of its kind in northeastern Illinois — was discovered in 1977. In the 1830s, Erastus Gary, one of Winfield Township’s first settlers and a founder of Gary, Indiana, made his home on the land that is now Blackwell Forest Preserve. The Chancel Choir generally rehearses on Sundays before worship, September through May, in the Choir Room, 9:30-10:00 am.

Our Disabilities Ministry classroom for children and youth is open from 10:00-11:30 am in Room 4.

All are welcome to our service of Scripture, sermon, prayers, and song. Today’s worship will include a stewardship presentation.

Our service also includes a special time for the children. Children begin worship in the Sanctuary and leave with teachers during the sermon time for Sunday school. They are also welcome to worship with their families in the pews. Sound is also turned on in our Gathering Space just outside the big glass doors to the Sanctuary in case your child needs a little more space to move around during the service. A nursery is available for younger children if your family prefers that option.

Masks and socially distanced seating are optional.

Our Sunday School curriculum is based on practices Jesus did and taught us to do as faithful followers. This curriculum examines where those practices are found in the Bible and how they are used in Christian faith.

Children remain with their families for the beginning of our 10:15 am worship service, then leave for Sunday School classes after the Time with Children during worship. After worship has ended, parents and guardians pick up their children in the classrooms.

Children who are kindergarten and younger meet in the Children’s Room (near the Sanctuary) for story time and engaging play stations. First through fifth graders gather in Rooms 2 and 3 for music, prayers, Bible stories, and fun hands-on activities.

Middle school and high school youth will gather in the Youth Lounge at 4:00 pm, then enjoy a meal together at the Community Dinner. After dinner, they will return to the Youth Lounge for fun ahd fellowship.

Our Second Sunday Community Dinner takes place in the Great Hall, 4:00-6:00 pm. All are welcome to come and dine in, take out, or both. Margie Veseling and friends are the chefs for this month’s dinner. Today’s menu is available by calling the church office (630-232-7448).

The Sewing Circle gathers on Mondays for quilting, other service projects, and fellowship. You don’t need experience to join in, so come and check us out. We begin to wrap up our day’s work at 2:00 pm.

PFLAG generally meets on the second Monday of the month in the Youth Lounge, 6:00-8:00 pm, with setup beginning at 4:30 pm.

Belong Fox Valley welcomes youth ages 13-19 who are interested in friendships, doing activities and learning about LGBTQIA+ culture. Our weekly meetings take place in the Youth Lounge from 5:30-7:00 pm.
