Sunday Morning Christian Education

2026 Adult Education Track

Summer Stories

FVPC continues its tradition of monthly summer adult education classes with “Summer Stories.” We will wrap up this series on August 23, when Linda Sonner will serve as facilitator as we discuss Theo of Golden, by Allen Levi. We will meet in the Conference Room at 9:00 am.

Questions? Email Susan Strasser.

Sneak Preview

All are invited to join us in the Conference Room during the 9:00 am Education Hour on Sunday, September 13, for the kickoff of our new fall series, “FVPC 101.”

During the following weeks, we will explore who we are, what we believe, and what all those logos on our website mean. For instance, what is “More Light” and how did we become a “More Light” church? What about the Fox River Valley Initiative? What is an Earth Care Congregation? What do Stephen Ministers do? We will also explore how our various committees help us to live out of core values of universal welcome, faith development, outreach to the community, and stewardship of the land and building entrusted to us.

Our October 4th class will feature More Light Presbyterians. Watch this page and weekly e-newsletters for more information about each Sunday’s program.

Questions? Email Susan Strasser.

Thursday Women’s Fellowship Time

We encourage any and all women to drop in at church on the first and third Thursday, August through June, from 5:30–7:00 pm in the Cafe for our Thursday Women’s Fellowship Time. Bring a sack supper (your own food from home or purchased on the way) and enjoy eating and spending time together in the Cafe.

The host for each evening will provide a topic for discussion or an activity. Feel free to bring along your own craft, suggest activities for the group, or break away to attend a meeting when needed.

There is no preparation or cost; just come and enjoy some fellowship. If you need a ride or childcare, or have questions, email Angie Bateman or Deb Mengler.

Border Encounter Book Club

Inspired by their recent trips to the border, our El Paso/Juarez border encounter team is leading a book club. Watch this space and church publcations for details on our next book and discussion. Questions? Contact Lisa Hall (630-768-6501).

Restaurant Outings

FVPC members and friends get together to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant every few months, with the restaurant donating a portion of our dinner bills to the church. Pictured below are photos from our latest outing. Questions? Please contact Liz Holding (lizholding@comcast.net or 847-606-8246).

Enneagram Workshop

Enneagram workshops are held from time to time - watch this space and church publications for updates! Questions? Please email Enneagram leaders Laurie Musielak or Becky Pearce.

Pub Theology

All are welcome at Pub Theology, a monthly get-together sponsored by FVPC, the Unitarian Universalist Church, Geneva Lutheran Church, and the United Methodist Church of Geneva. Bring your questions and your curiosity and respectfully engage with people of varying religious traditions, philosophical perspectives, and life experiences.

We generally meet on the first Tuesday of the month, often at Up North Wine Tasting Room, 9 N. Second Street in Geneva, 6:30-8:30 pm.

Organizer for this event: Pastor Rob Hamilton, The United Methodist Church of Geneva

Presbyterian Women

All women of the church are invited to participate in a Presbyterian Women (PW) circle, which is affiliated with the PC(USA) national Presbyterian Women organization.

The Sewing Circle provides a creative way to show God’s love and care to people in need. The Circle creates pillowcase dresses for mission trips; bags for mission trips and Church World Service school kits; quilts; and prayer shawls. Circle members enjoy picturing the happiness their creations bring to the recipients and like to say a prayer of blessing over the items before they are distributed. About 100 quilts are created each year.

The Sewing Circle meets year round on Mondays in Rooms 2 and 3, 10:00 am-2:00 pm. New members are very welcome and do not need to know how to sew.  There are several tasks (such as pinning and tying with yarn) that do not require sewing.  Knitters are needed to make prayer shawls as well. Questions? Email Anne McManus.

Congregational Revitalization through Community Organizing

Through our membership in the Fox River Valley Initiative, we have access to training that will teach us how to build meaningful relationships and have purposeful conversations as we seek to love, grow, and serve together. We also have the opportunity to participate in events to educate ourselves and help make our community a better place. Contact Liz Holding to learn about the next FRVI actions or meetings.
