Introducing Rev. Clint Roberts, our Bridge Pastor

FVPC is excited to welcome Rev. Clinton Roberts as our Bridge Pastor while Rev. Michelle Hwang is on her sabbatical. He is a familiar face at FVPC as he has preached for us several times in the past year. Rev. Roberts' first Sunday with our church will be Sunday, June 22, 2025 and he will continue to serve through Sunday, September 28, 2025. His role as our Bridge Pastor includes preaching sermons on Sundays, providing emergency pastoral care, moderating Session meetings, and working with our church staff in the office one day a week. As our Bridge Pastor, Rev. Roberts will be working part-time.

While Rev. Michelle is away, our congregation will participate in several parallel activities that will help us connect and relate to her sabbatical experiences. These activities include an outdoor service, a spiritual renewal service, and a play-based service.

Rev. Clinton Roberts, in his own words

Clint grew up in a pastor's home in Pennsylvania and New York before graduating from Chapel Hill, North Carolina with a degree in English. After pursuing doctoral studies in History at Tulane University, Clint earned his Divinity degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago in 1985, where he met and married his wife the Rev. Deb Chandler Roberts. Since then, the couple have served congregations both together and separately in Michigan, Kansas, Indiana, and Illinois, including Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville, where they served as co-pastors from 1999 to 2019. Clint retired as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, Illinois in 2023.

Clint and Deb have two children and two grandchildren. Clint enjoys cycling the Fox River Trail, sailing on Lake Michigan and long walks with his Goldendoodle Remy. He is looking forward to serving at FVPC!
