Confirmation retreat - Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center

  • Fox Valley Presbyterian Church 227 East Side Drive Geneva, IL, 60134 (map)

Confirmands will participate in a retreat at the Stronghold Conference Center, February 7-9.

The event starts with arrival at Stronghold Camp and Retreat Center at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 7. Programming gets going at about 7:30 p.m. Dinner is not served that night, so youth should eat before meeting to depart at 5:45 pm.

Since the majority of our participants live on the west side of the Fox River and the camp is west of us, we will probably meet in a shopping center parking lot somewhere on Randall Road to be able to make our departure time as late as possible. If we need to depart a little later on Friday in order to include everyone, we can adjust that. The Friday evening programming time is dependent on when participants can get there, and some folks are coming from farther away than we are.

The event ends at about 10:00-11:00 am on Sunday, February 9, so we'll be back in the area by noon.

The cost of the weekend is $145 per participant. Scholarship funds are available if assistance would be helpful. Scholarships come from a designated fund invested for this use only, so please don't hesitate to let Pastor Stephanie know if you would like to use them. This is their only purpose, and we would love to put them to good use!

Confirmands are asked to let Pastor Stephanie know by the end of day Wednesday, January 15, if they are attending the retreat so that she will be able to register them.  Payment by check is easiest, and checks may be dropped off at church or brought when youth are dropped off on February 7.

It's ideal that confirmands participate in the whole weekend, but if you just can't make that work and can arrange your own transportation to fit your scheduling needs, please let Pastor Stephanie know and she will work with you to coordinate that.

Confirmation mentors, one more male chaperone is needed. Female mentors are welcome to come as well. Parents are also welcome to come as a chaperone. Adults who are planning to attend are asked to email Pastor Stephanie.
