Join us once a month - on Sundays in June, July and August - at 9:00 am in the Conference Room for in-depth conversations about how our Books and Bagels selection informs our way of being community. Come for food and connection. All are welcome.
We will get together on Sunday, July 30, to discuss Demon Copperhead by Barbra Kingsolver. Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teen-aged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.
For those who may be impacted: There is language, drug use, sex, abuse, etc. in this novel. It's not gratuitous or excessive, but it's definitely a part of it.
