Melinda was born and raised in Champaign, Illinois and has been a Presbyterian all of her life. She graduated from the University of Illinois, majoring in History, Political Science, and Russian. Melinda worked four years for Senator Everett Dirksen in Washington, D.C. In 1973, Melinda and her family became members at Fox Valley. She was so enchanted with FVPC that she decided to go to seminary and graduated from Chicago Theological Seminary in 1986. Her first call was to the First Presbyterian Church in Woodstock, Illinois where she was their Associate Pastor for 12 years. Melinda returned to FVPC in 2000 as the Pastor of Visitation. Melinda and her husband, Ben Waldie, love to be with their family, which includes eight children and step-children, 22 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren! They both play lots of golf – often together! Melinda adores people, reading, music, and watching sports!
